Patrick Mahomes Congratulates Royals’ Bobby Witt Jr. on Historic Season

Burgeoning Royals star Bobby Witt Jr. made MLB history on Friday night to cap a remarkable performance in an otherwise-disappointing season for Kansas City.

With Witt’s 30th home run of the campaign in the seventh inning of his team’s 12–5 victory over the Yankees, he became the first major leaguer ever to amass 30 homers, 45 stolen bases and 10 triples in the same season.

In fact, Witt’s unique feat was so impressive, that it caught the attention of another beloved Kansas city athlete: Patrick Mahomes.

The Chiefs quarterback, who owns a stake in the Royals, took to social media to give his props to the 23-year-old shortstop, after the history-making home run.

“Congrats my man!!” Mahomes wrote to Witt.

Needless to say, Witt was appreciative of such high praise from a Kansas City great.

Witt, who also became the first Royals player to join the 30/30 club, already has made his mark in baseball after just two seasons in the majors. The No. 2 pick in the 2019 draft has already smashed 50 career home runs and stolen 79 bases, while seeing his numbers rise in numerous statistical categories (batting average, home runs, RBIs, triples and stolen bases) from his rookie season to his sophomore campaign.

Witt still has an opportunity to add to his season numbers in Kansas City’s final two games, as he sits just one stolen base away from becoming the fourth player ever to join the 30/50 club.
