This summer will be full of roster decisions for the Chicago Bulls. Not only will they have to decide whether or not to bring back the core of DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine, and Nikola Vucevic, but they also have choices to make around the fringes of the roster.
Chicago signed Patrick Beverley after the trade deadline this past season. Beverley was traded to the Orlando Magic and bought out, paving the way for him to sign with his hometown team. However, the veteran guard is now an unrestricted free agent. He’s free to sign wherever he wants, and during a recent edition of the Pat Bev Podcast, he revealed that he could head back to the Houston Rockets.
James Harden is reportedly thinking about a return to Houston. When asked about potentially joining him, Beverley said the chance is “very highly,” revealing that the Rockets were one of his options when he was picking a team to sign with this past year.
“I think that was one of my decisions when I got traded from the Lakers,” Beverley said. “Houston was one of my, you know. But they told me, ‘Pat, we don’t need you right now. You might not play. We need you to mentor young guys. Blah, blah, blah.’ So, I still wanted to play.”
Patrick Beverley (@patbev21), on the @PatBevPod, asked: if he really thinks James Harden is going to back to Houston & is there any chance of u reuniting with him back in Houston? “Very highly.” Very high chance of u going back to Houston? “Very highly.” Of you going back? “Yeah” pic.twitter.com/hLqvCcVh2z

Beverley made a huge impact on the Bulls this past year, as they went 13-9 with him in the lineup to end the year. It was a very successful stretch, and if Chicago is committed to competing, they should attempt to bring him back.
But if his mind is set on Houston, there might not be anything the Bulls can do to change it.
