Patricia Murphy: The big-money industry to defeat Marjorie Taylor Greene

Marcus Flowers' campaign headquarters in downtown Rome, Georgia, looks like any other you'd see four weeks away from a primary election, with campaign signs taped to the windows and a folding table as a make-shift reception desk in the nearly empty space.

But online, the Flowers campaign is a humming, outreach and money-raising machine. The Democrat's campaign has brought in an astounding $7.1 million in the last year, despite the fact that Flowers was an unknown, first-time candidate when he got started last year.

Among his famous donors from around the country— actresses Patricia Arquette and Felicity Huffman, along with Scott Galloway, the Florida businessman who podcasts as "Prof. G." Nearly all of the rest— about $6 million— came from unitemized small dollar contributions, which are typically raised online through text and email blasts.
