Patrice Evra admits Bruno Fernandes is back to his best because Manchester United have opted to make him the main man, once again, with ousted Cristiano Ronaldo temporarily out of the picture.
Having refused to come off the bench against Tottenham this Wednesday night, Ronaldo has been dropped from the matchday squad altogether vs Chelsea on Saturday afternoon. In his absence, Fernandes will captain the team with Antony, Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford expected to be deployed in attacking quarters.
Fernandes helped to settle the scores at Old Trafford against top-four rivals Tottenham with Fred also getting his name on the scoresheet. Ronaldo was, meanwhile, unused while his antics continue to divert attention away from his teammates and what was an eye-catching win for United.

Speaking in his role as a Betfair ambassador, Evra said: "What I love about Bruno is his work ethic. When you go to an orchestra, it's one person managing it, not two, and you don't play football with two footballs and people think that he's not been scoring because he's not been the main man, but he doesn't want to be.
"We saw Bruno back to his best. Even though he doesn't like it, it's because he was the main man."
Evra added: "Of course, I understand Cristiano Ronaldo's frustrations, but people should focus on the performance and let Ten Hag solve it. All the talk around Ronaldo is negative now and I don't want things to be negative around the club and people don't need to add anything because Ten Hag will deal with it."
Fernandes signed for United from Sporting in January 2020 and has played 140 games for the club. In that time, he has totted-up 52 goals and 41 assists in all competitions, but the match-winning strike against Tottenham was only his second in the Premier League this season.
