Patrice Evra names three positions Erik ten Hag must strengthen at Manchester United in January

Manchester United need to strengthen three positions when the January transfer window opens.

That's the message from ex- United player Patrice Evra who feels Erik ten Hag needs further recruits to make his mark on the Premier League this season. During his first window, Ten Hag signed five players on permanent deals - Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro and Antony.

Martin Dubravka was also brought in on loan to offset Dean Henderson leaving. United will utilise the loan market when attempting to replace Cristiano Ronaldo next month, with further areas potentially on the agenda for Ten Hag.

Evra was pressed on the January window in his role as a Betfair ambassador. In that promotion, he urged Ten Hag and United to consider recruitment at centre-back, midfield and in attacking quarters.

He said: "You always expect to strengthen, but I don't want to go into the transfer window panicking and buying players because the fans and media are pushing for it. We need to add something to the squad so we can perform much better.

"We're probably going to need a striker. I don't know if we need another right-back.

"I definitely think that we need a centre-back, a striker and a midfielder. That kind of Casemiro player, we still need experience and I'm sure Ten Hag is working with the club and they will try to get something sorted."

Evra added: "It depends on which players are going to leave. I think there are players that are not happy about not playing and they will try to leave."
