Patna: Failure to get a job turns this economics graduate into ‘chaiwali’

PATNA: ‘Chaiwala’ and ‘Chai Pe Charcha’ have been quite common in the political discourse of the country since 2014, but this 24-year-old economics graduate ‘Chaiwali’ from Purnia is literally running a tea stall near Patna Women’s College after she failed to crack the bank competitive exams despite her hard work for two years.

Priyanka Gupta, who terms her business as a step forward toward ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’, has been drawing good number of customers to her stall since opening it on April 11. A graduate from Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth, Varanasi, Priyanka has attractive punchlines written on his stall, such as ‘Peena Hi Padega’ and ‘Soch Mat...Chalu Kar De Bas’. “Earlier, I was a girl who always avoided exposure to sunlight, but now I stand whole day in this scorching weather with a strong will to be a successful ‘chaiwali’,” Priyanka told this newspaper.
