BG Pathum United have parted ways with coach Makoto Teguramori after the club lost to Bangkok United in Thai League 1 on Sunday night.
The Rabbits said on Monday the Japanese coach had failed to meet the club's target.
"BG Pathum United appreciate Makoto Teguramori's hard work and dedication throughout his tenure with the club and would like to wish him all the best in the future," the club said in a statement.
Assistant coach Mitsuo Kato, also of Japan, will fill in as the club's interim boss, the team said.
Teguramori arrived as the Rabbits' coach in January and led the club to the runner-up finish in the 2021-22 Thai League 1 season.
The Japanese also guided the team to the quarter-finals of the 2022 AFC Champions League.
On Sunday, second-half goals from Vander Luis and Mahmoud Eid gave Bangkok United a 2-0 win over visiting Pathum.
The victory pushed the Angels to second place on 23 points, one behind leaders Buriram United.
The outcome, on the other hand, dealt BG a blow as they are seven points off the pace after 10 games.
Meanwhile, Mario Gjurovski has made a U-turn and will remain as coach of Muang Thong United after the Kirins defeated Prachuap 5-0 in Thai League 1 on Sunday.
Gjurovski had said he would quit the post after the game against Prachuap.
"It's a great performance -- our best performance in two years," he said after the match.
"We showed motivation and fighting spirit. I will continue my job as coach of the team."
