Coronation Street fans renewed calls for soap baddie Pat Phelan to make a comeback to the cobbles - despite seeing him being killed off four years ago. Actor Connor McIntyre received a warm welcome at The British Soap Awards in London as he took to the stage to present long-time Corrie writer Jan McVerry with The Tony Warren Award for her achievements, named in honour of the soap's legendary creator.
And fans watching at home went wild as they remembered Phelan's reign of terror on the cobbles. Viewers took to Twitter to show their love for the memorable villain.
@I_am_KenBarlow asked: "#SoapAwards #SoapAwards2022 Is now a good time to discuss my idea for @connor9mcintyre to return, playing Pat's twin brother Matt Phelan?" And they said: "We can't bring back Pat Phelan. That would be ridiculous. We have to bring in his long-lost identical twin brother - Matt Phelan."

Last year Connor appeared in the Channel Four school drama Ackley Bridge. His menacing character Phelan carried out a four year reign of terror on the street and he won Villain of the Year at the British Soap Awards 2018 for his chilling portrayal of the murderous builder.
He was finally killed off in 2018 after being stabbed through the chest by his nemesis Anna Windass during a horror siege at the bistro. He had previously let everyone think he was dead for weeks after surviving a fall off a harbour side and hiding out in a B&B following a showdown with wife Eileen when she found out he was a murderer.
He tormented Anna and blackmailed her into sleeping with him. And in 2016 he developed an appetite for killing his neighbours when he stood over Michael Rodwell, played by Les Dennis, and watched him die as he suffered a heart attack.
He held neighbour Andy Carver hostage and forced him to shoot his old friend Vinny Ashford before killing Andy. Then he shot mechanic Luke Britton and left him to die in a fireball.
