Pat Nevin praises 'world class' Kyogo Furuhashi

Former Chelsea winger Pat Nevin has hailed Celtic's Kyogo Furuhashi, calling him "world class".

The Japan international netted 34 times for the Hoops last season as they clinched a treble.

And Nevin feels has tipped the forward to have a future in the English Premier League.

He told OLBG: "Kyogo is the one I think is good enough for a top Premier League side. Callum McGregor is also very good.

"There are not many players who can make the jump from Scotland to the Premier League, but Kyogo in particular is one who can.

"He’s light, he’s a good height and he is a natural, world-class goal scorer."

Meanwhile, Celtic have confirmed the signing of Legia Warsaw defender Maik Nawrocki.

The 22-year-old has joined the Hoops on a five-year deal after much speculation.

Nawrocki was also a target for Turkish giants Galatasaray but opted to move to the Scottish champions.

Speaking to the club's official website after signing, Nawrocki said: "It’s great for me to have joined Celtic and I’m looking forward to meeting up with my new team-mates and start training with them.

"Celtic are a famous club throughout the world and, of course, they’re very well-known in Poland, having had a number of Polish players in recent years, so I know just how big this club is and how incredible the supporters are, and I can’t wait to play in front of the fans and experience that for myself."

Brendan Rodgers waxed lyrical about his new signing, explaining how he first became aware of the defender while in charge of Leicester City.

"It’s another very good signing for us and we’re delighted to have brought Maik to the club," the 50-year-old commented.

"He’s a very highly-rated young player and someone who we believe will be a great addition to the squad.

"He’s also a player I am very much aware of, having seen him play for Legia Warsaw in the Europa League and I know he was very keen to move to Celtic, so we’re looking forward to working with him."

Nawrocki is Rodgers' fifth signing since returning as manager and Celtic are understood to have fought off competition from several clubs for his signature.
