Pat McAfee blasts NFL Films for crediting Colin Cowherd

Pat McAfee has been one of the biggest voices in sports, and his platform has been notable for giving a voice to NFL star Aaron Rodgers.

It was on “The Pat McAfee Show” where Rodgers announced he wanted to play for the New York Jets, the team he is now on after being traded from the Green Bay Packers in late April.

But during the first episode of NFL Films popular sports documentary series “Hard Knocks,” it was Colin Cowherd and FS1 who were shown as the news breakers for Rodgers’ announcement. Pat McAfee was irritated by that, and he voiced it on his show on August 9.

“The biggest moment in our show’s history … they just kinda gave that on Hard Knocks to Colin Cowherd, and I think Craig Carton and Nick Wright as well,” McAfee said.

McAfee, perhaps semi-jokingly, questioned NFL Films for receiving favors from the FS1 hosts in order for them to be featured.

More NFL Business:

“Is Colin paying you directly? Is Nick Wright paying you directly?” McAfee said.

McAfee also talked about how it was “quite a day” for Cowherd. He was referencing how the radio host included Dwayne Haskins, a quarterback who tragically passed away in 2022, was put by Cowherd on a list of quarterbacks who can’t win a Super Bowl.

He called Cowherd’s statements “insensitive,” though he said he is a fan of Cowherd.

“What he said yesterday, obviously very dumb,” McAfee said. “But whenever you’re stepping in the batters box every single day you’re going to say dumb stuff. I do that all the time.”

But amid McAfee’s frustrations, he couldn’t help but admit that the show’s season premiere was very entertaining and expects the season to be “spectacular.” He said that he texted people at NFL Films who told him the inclusion of FS1's crew instead of him  was “misunderstanding.”
