Passengers stuck at Manchester Airport for HOURS as flight grounded after medical emergency

Passengers were stuck at Manchester Airport for hours as a flight to Dubai was unable to take off. The Emirates flight was due to leave at 9.50am this morning (July 6).

But travellers were kept on the aircraft into the afternoon following a 'complex' medical emergency. One woman, who asked not to be named, told the Manchester Evening News her son was among the passengers kept waiting for 'five hours'.

She said passengers were eventually given 'a pastry' before being told to 'go home or to a hotel with no news at all'. Once the medical incident involving a passenger had been resolved, the Emirates crew had exceeded their flying hours limit following an earlier flight and were unable to take off, the M.E.N. understands.

A spokesperson for Emirates said: "Emirates flight EK22 from Manchester to Dubai on July 6 has been delayed overnight due to a technical issue with a piece of onboard medical equipment. Emirates promptly engaged technicians to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

"The flight is scheduled to depart from Manchester to Dubai at 7am local time on July 7. Affected passengers are being updated and, where required, provided with hotel accommodation.

"Emirates sincerely apologises for any inconvenience caused. The safety of our passengers and crew is of utmost importance.”
