Passengers on board a flight from Cape Verde to Bristol endured a calamitous 20-hour ordeal which involved numerous delays and ended in an aborted landing after the plane “bounced hard” off the runway. After the TUI flight failed to land at Bristol airport on Wednesday, June 8 the pilot sent an emergency code and instead landed at Birmingham’s BHX.
But that wasn’t the end of the saga for the unfortunate passengers, who were then stuck for hours on board at Birmingham leading to all three emergency services being called on to the plane to deal with angry customers. One man who was on the flight has told WalesOnline that a woman was going into labour while on board and police also had to take a man off the plane.
The journey on board the Boeing Dreamliner was supposed to begin early on Tuesday evening from Cape Verde. But the problems started when the flight was delayed for several hours, and eventually took off just before midnight - with an arrival time scheduled for around 6am in Bristol on Wednesday.
