Passenger 'misses train home' after 'horrendous' wait for almost two hours for luggage at Manchester Airport

Disgruntled passengers claimed to have waited for almost two hours for their luggage at Manchester Airport on Sunday evening (May 28), with one man missing his last train home after his Jet2 flight had landed.

Crowds of people could be seen waiting beside baggage carousels with some reporting waits of one hour and 45 minutes for their luggage to appear after landing.

The flights impacted were those operated by Jet2, from Dubrovnik to Terminal 2 and and Athens to Terminal 1, with one man claiming the wait was 'horrendous' as it took almost two hours for him to collect his suitcase.

The airline operates with their own baggage handlers and has been contacted for a comment.

Edson Beck, who missed his last train home to Accrington due to waiting for his suitcase after landing from Dubrovnik, said: "It was horrendous. It took one hour and 45 minutes until the bags arrived.

"The flight was already delayed to begin with and this was the last thing I wanted. We were told absolutely nothing. We were not even given a bottle of water. I thought one lady was going to pass out."

He later received a text message from Jet2, seen by the M.E.N, apologising for possible 'delays at baggage reclaim' and that they 'appreciated the patience' of passengers.

Elsewhere at Manchester Airport on Sunday night, other travellers whose Jet2 LS1710 flight from Athens also reported delays of over an hour.

@examark tweeted: "@Jet2tweets Over one and a half hours since we landed at Manchester Airport and not a piece of luggage has come through for any passengers from Athens and you are not telling any of us anything. Disgusting customer service."

As @jaceyar posted: "@jet2tweets Hello - is there any info on LS1710 luggage at Manchester Airport belt 5? Loads of us waiting an hour already."

Jet2 and Manchester Airport have been approached for comment on the matter.
