Partick Thistle manager Ian McCall has confirmed his club are close to signing a new defender ahead of the Championship season.

They've bolstered their striker ranks with former Dens Park striker Danny Mullen this week and McCall says another recruit may be on the way.
It won't be this weekend as he could be in cup duty for his current club on Saturday, but the Partick Thistle manager is hopeful of having him at his disposal for the opening day of the second tier season versus Dundee in a week's time. He said: "I think we are close now [to adding a defender]. He may be playing for his club today and he is not one I could have done now anyway.
