Partick Thistle boss Ian McCall doubles down on referee apology after blistering Highland verdict

Ian McCall has personally apologised to referee Scott Lambie after he slaughtered him for mistakes in last week's Partick Thistle defeat to Inverness.

The Jags boss was unhappy to see his side not given a penalty in the Championship affair before he didn't agree with Kyle Turner's red card and said post-match that Lambie 'looked way out of his depth for this level.' He then took to national radio to apologise and ahead of this weekend's trip to Hamilton, McCall says he's know personally been in touch with Lambie.

That issue is settled and focus is turned to getting three points back to Firhill from South Lanarkshire, maintaning their spot at the league's summit. Partick Thistle's boss said: "I put the statement out and I spoke to the referee. I've not changed my mind on the decisions but that isn't what it's about. I have apologised. I wanted to do it face-to-face but we might not see each other for a while.

"So I did it over the phone. That's the end of the matter. There's no thought process 10 minutes after a game although I wish there was. I have said enough on that. I regretted it but it doesn't change what I think of decisions.

"Everybody makes mistakes, that is something I have learned in management. He's a young guy making his way so for me and for him, that is very much over.

"We would like to bounce back but the way the league is, we beat Morton by five and then they beat Hamilton by five. Who knows what can happen."
