A photographer captured the partial solar eclipse and a colourful autumn scene on the same day by the North Sea.
The two contrasting images taken by Press Association photographer Owen Humphreys show a partial solar eclipse over Cullercoats, followed by a crisp and colourful morning shot in North Shields Marina, both taken before noon.
"Not too often you shoot a partial eclipse and some autumn colours on the same morning," wrote Owen, who regularly rises early to snap weather photos in the North East.
The partial eclipse - which occurs when part of the moon's orbit obscures the view of the sun from the earth - was visible in the UK on Tuesday morning. Around a quarter of the sun was blocked out by the moon, making it appear like a small bite had been taken out of the star.
The eclipse peaked at around 10.13am and was finished by midday. Once it was over, the skies returned to normal, the clear day offered snapper Owen an opportunity to photograph an autumnal scene in the North Shields, with the water in the foreground, boats in the middle and colourful trees in the background.
In recent weeks Owen has also shot images of the Northern Lights and storms in Whitley Bay.
