Organisers of Parklife have issued a statement, after a severe thunderstorm hit the festival in Heaton Park.
“Due to the current weather conditions and local lightning strikes, Parklife has temporarily halted performances at this time,” said a spokesperson. “This is expected to be a short suspension and today’s programme will resume as soon as possible.
“Any changes/amendments to the festival running-order will be communicated as soon as possible - and festival-goers are encouraged to keep an eye on official festival channels and screens at the show for further information.”

It’s expected that there will be some minor rearrangements to the festival line-up and timings, with news to follow.
The rain started around 4pm, with a few spots, but soon turned into a deluge, with festival-goers running for cover. The festival then brought all the music stages to a ‘full stop.
Fans at The Valley stage were told over the PA system to ‘move three metres’ away from large structures this afternoon as dark clouds covers the sky ahead of the storm.
In a video taken from the stage area, a member of staff instructed attendees: “Please move three metres away from any metal structure and we'll restart the show as soon as it's possible. Thank you.”
Music is now resuming at the festival, to deafening roars from the crowd. Tonight’s line-up includes the Wu-Tang Clan and Nas, Carl Cox, The Prodigy and The 1975 on the main stage.
