A warning has been issued to those thinking of visiting a popular seaside town this weekend.
Thousands are expected to descend on Merseyside as people get out in the good weather over the four-day bank holiday weekend but one town has been hit with a parking warning. Sefton Council has confirmed that people might be stuck for parking if they're planning on heading to the north of Merseyside.
The local authority confirmed that the beach parking that is usually available will not be open, as people rush to fill up town centre car parks and Ocean Plaza during Easter weekend. Visitors are urged to travel safely and to think about walking or cycling to the Sefton coastline.

RNLI lifeguards will be on Southport, Ainsdale and Crosby beaches this weekend, with people also urged to travel to Sefton beaches by train. People driving have been told they should plan ahead to avoid delays and are reminded to park responsibly and considerately, as well as staying away from residential areas.
Southport Beach will be shut for the entire weekend to cars but those going to Ainsdale will be able to park on the beach until 7pm on all four days. People who decide to head to Formby Beach will be able to park in one of the two National Trust site car parks, with a car park available at Crosby Beach.
Ainsdale Beach car park charges are:
- £10 per day for cars
- £16 per day for horseboxes or minibuses
- 50% off the above rates after 4pm subject to car parking management arrangements
- £35 season ticket for Sefton residents and those who drive an electric or hybrid vehicle
- £70 season ticket for non-Sefton residents
As well as parking, people visiting the coastal gateways are also reminded to be environmentally sensitive. Fires, BBQs, balloon releases and fireworks have an impact on the local wildlife and are not allowed near the coast. Failure to adhere to the coastal rules will receive a fixed penalty charge from the council.
