Pay and display charges will be rising by 50 per cent in parts of the city next month, according to Bristol City Council.
The changes to pay and display parking charges in Residents' Parking Schemes (RPS) areas, as well as parking permits, will come into force from June 6, however the figure is significantly higher than what was approved back in December. In fact, it's substantially more than the 30 per cent proposed originally.
The impacted areas include Bedminster East, Bower Ashton, Cheswick Village, Clifton Village, Cliftonwood & Hotwells, Cotham, Cotham North, Kingsdown, Montpelier, Redcliffe, Redland, St Pauls, Southville and Spike Island. Some of these are situated on the boundary around the Clean Air Zone which is expected to come into force in the city in September time - the charges seems to be targeting those motorists who may consider parking on the boundary in order to avoid entering the zone entirely.
