Parking garage ‘partially collapses’ leaving people injured and some trapped in Lower Manhattan

A parking garage in Lower Manhattan has partially collapsed leaving multiple injured and some trapped, it has been reported.

The building is located at 57 Ann Street between Nassau Street and William Street near the financial district of the city,

Officials have evacuated the Pace university building that is next to the garage that has collapsed.

The upper levels of the garage structure collapsed around 4.15pm local time in New York sending cars crashing down.

According to senior officials the second floor of a five-story parking garage collapsed onto the first floor.

A Citizen App video taken from what appears to be a nearby building shows cars piled on top of each other as rubble is seen from the collapsed floor.

The city’s Department of Buildings is on the scene.

Mayor Eric Adams has been briefed on the situation.

The location of the parking garage is close to New York City Hall and New Yorkers have been advised to expect delays on the evening commute.
