Parker Washington ’embracing the opportunities’ after IR stint

Parker Washington is back on the active roster after getting elevated from the injured reserve by the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday.

The sixth-round rookie receiver made his NFL debut back in Week 4 when return specialist Jamal Agnew was out of action due to an injury. It didn’t last long for Washington, though. He played only two snaps before suffering a knee injury on his first career punt return.

Now, seven weeks later, Washington is off the I.R. and ready to step back into the lineup as the Jaguars’ starting returner while Agnew recovers from a shoulder injury.

“I feel like it’s perfect timing right now,” Washington said after a practice earlier this week. “I’ve been tackling that rehab and everything, treatment has been going really well, it’s been exciting. I’ve just been attacking that process, it feels like perfect timing.

“Just get in where you fit in. I’m just embracing the opportunities they give me, whether that’s punt return, no offense all game, I’m good, or some offensive reps. I’m ready to work and help the team win.”

Washington had 20 career punt returns during his time at Penn State and took them for a combined 122 yards. On his only career NFL return, he took a punt back five yards against the Atlanta Falcons.

To make room for the addition of Washington, the Jaguars played Agnew on the injured reserve.
