Park Bom And Sandara Park Rift Explained: 2NE1 Vocalist Claims She's Used To Covering Dara's Drug Use

Park Bom claims she was framed to hide Sandara Park’s alleged drug use in a deleted Instagram letter. (Credit: Park Bom/Instagram)

Allegations of a rift within 2NE1 have resurfaced after Park Bom claimed she was used to cover up Sandara Park's alleged drug use. The claims, made in a handwritten letter posted and later deleted from Instagram, cast the spotlight once again around one of K-pop's most controversial episodes.

The letter revisited Bom's long-running association with a 2010 medication case, while introducing new allegations involving her former bandmate. Sandara Park's representatives have reportedly denied the accusations, though the singer herself has not issued a personal response.

Park Bom's Deleted Letter Sparks Fresh Controversy

On 3 March 2026, 2NE1 member Park Bom uploaded a handwritten letter to Instagram, later deleting the post as screenshots circulated online. In the message, she revisited her 2014 drug controversy, which centred on accusations that she imported Adderall into South Korea in 2010. At the time, prosecutors suspended the case after determining the medication had been prescribed for treatment.

Adderall is a psychotropic medication commonly prescribed in the United States for Attention Deficit Disorder and related conditions. In South Korea, it is prohibited due to its amphetamine content and is associated with risks including addiction and cardiovascular complications. Despite the suspended case, the issue continued to influence public perception of Bom in the years that followed.

Claims Involving Sandara Park

In her letter, Bom assured fans she was not ill and was working to live well before addressing what she described as a sensitive matter. She wrote, 'This is Park Bom. I'm writing to share the truth with you. Have you all been well? I am not sick and am working hard to live well. I'm about to talk about something sensitive and frightening,' according to a Koreaboo translation.

She expressed hesitation about raising the matter again, stating, 'I am being cautious in case it causes uproar, but the medication Adderall, which is labelled as a psychotropic drug, weighs on my mind. I really didn't want to bring it up again.' Bom then asserted that the medication had been prescribed to treat her ADD and was not a drug in the criminal sense.

Bom further claimed that Sandara Park had previously been caught for drug abuse and that she was presented as a substitute to divert attention. She wrote, 'It is not a drug. I am an ADD patient, something called Attention Deficit Disorder. Sandara Park was caught for drug abuse, and to cover that up, they turned the medication into something labelled as a drug scandal involving me.' She did not identify who she alleged orchestrated the situation.

Appeal To Agencies And Public

In the same letter, Bom stated, 'At the time, there wasn't even a specific medication system or law in this country regarding Adderall. Strangely, after [me], a law was created.' She concluded with a direct appeal to named parties connected to her career.

'To the citizens online, I sincerely ask that you please investigate the facts as they are. And lastly, what I truly want to say is this: YG Entertainment, Yang Hyun Suk, Teddy Park, and Lee Chaerin (CL), please do not report to the authorities that Park Bom used more than the prescribed amount of a drug that you yourselves have not used even once in 30 years,' she wrote. She ended the message by stating, 'I am writing this because it feels like my soul is crying. Thank you for reading.'

Response And Context

Following the deletion of the post, Korean media outlet OSEN cited a close associate of Bom. The source said, 'As you know, this incident occurred due to Park Bom's unstable health. We ask for your understanding.' The statement suggested the letter was written during a period when the singer's condition was unstable.

This is not the first time Bom has made public claims in recent years. Since 2024, she has raised allegations involving personal relationships, including statements about actor Lee Min Ho being her 'husband', and disputes concerning settlements with her former agency, YG Entertainment. As of this writing, Sandara Park herself has not issued a response to the claims made in the deleted letter, though her representatives have reportedly dismissed the allegations.
