Paris Saint-Germain 'interested' in Nottingham Forest transfer target

Paris Saint-Germain have joined Nottingham Forest in being credited with an interest in Benfica forward Gonçalo Ramos.

The Portugal under-21 international was first linked with the Reds back in December last year on the eve of the winter transfer window opening. Steve Cooper's side were again reported as interested in Ramos last month.

Last season was a breakthrough one for the attacker, who was fielded primarily as a second striker playing off of now-Liverpool centre-forward Darwin Nunez. The 21-year-old scored eight goals and assisted another four in 46 appearances across all competitions, including an equaliser at Anfield in the Champions League quarter-finals against Jurgen Klopp's side.

That form, particularly displayed during the second half of the campaign after Nélson Veríssimo replaced Jorge Jesus as head coach - which prompted Ramos to be first linked with Forest - in late December 2021, has apparently caught the attention in Paris. Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano is reporting the interest from the French capital.

Ramos is said to be 'one of the names (on) the list' of potential striker targets by PSG's Portuguese football advisor Luís Campos. Reims youngster Hugo Ekitike and Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca are the others named by Romano.

Portuguese outlet Record previously reported that Premier League rivals Newcastle United as well as German giants Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund were also keen on Ramos as of last month. A €40 million (£34 million) transfer fee was also placed on the player's head by the publication, which would appear prohibitive to Forest in light of having since signed Taiwo Awoniyi for a club-record £17.5 million transfer fee.
