Paris Paralympics: Avani Lekhara finishes 11th, Sidhartha Babu ends 28th in qualifications

NEW DELHI: At the Paralympic Games in Chateauroux on Sunday, Indian shooters Avani Lekhara placed 11th and Sidhartha Babu placed 28th, respectively, and were not able to advance to the final of the mixed 10m air rifle prone (SH1) event.

Avani finished the competition with a total score of 632.8, not her favorite event, but she could not duplicate her historic gold medal in the 10m air rifle standing SH1 event.

Sidhartha scored 628.3 points overall from six series, as per PTI.

While Sidhartha's scores were 104.6, 103.8, 105.7, 104.9, 103.6, and 105.7, Avani's scores were 105.7, 106.0, 104.1, 106.0, 104.8, and 106.2.

With her triumph in the women's 10m air rifle (SH1) event on Friday, Avani-the first Indian woman to win two gold medals at the Paralympics-maintained her championship with a world record score.

Athletes can fire from a standing or sitting position (in a wheelchair or chair) and grasp their pistol with ease in SH1.
