A significant security operation has been put in place in Paris to ensure the safety of the opening ceremony of the Olympics. The city's streets have been blocked off, with numerous police officers on patrol and imposing metal-fence security barriers erected along the River Seine. A total of up to 45,000 police and gendarmes, along with 10,000 soldiers, have been deployed to enhance Olympic security.
