Germany's Yemisi Ogunleye claimed gold in the women's shot put final at the Paris Olympics on Friday with a decisive final throw of 20.00 meters. This effort edged out New Zealand's Maddison-Lee Wesche, who had led with a personal best of 19.86 meters on her fifth attempt, marking Germany's first gold in the event since 1996.
Ogunleye, proudly draped in the German flag, celebrated her victory with a lap around the Stade de France and rang the traditional victory bell.
