Lindsay Lohan 's father has broken his silence on his daughter's first public pregnancy, claiming his eldest child has 'waited a while' to be become a mother.
Michael Lohan says he's 'thrilled' to learn he is set to become a grandfather once again, following Mean Girls actress Lindsay, 36, announcing she is expecting her first child later this year on Instagram earlier today.
The Freaky Friday star, who tied the knot with her husband last year, broke the news by posting a snap of a white baby grow on her Instagram account, with the words 'coming soon' written across the item of clothing.
"We are blessed and excited," a delighted Lindsay captioned the sweet shot to her 12.4million followers.
Discussing his daughter's happy news this evening, the pregnant star's dad Michael said: "She's waited a while but everything is coming at the right time.
"She'll make an unbelievable mom."
Speaking to the MailOnline, he added: "It's so amazing to welcome another grandchild into the world. It's a totally new chapter in her life."
Netflix star Lindsay tied the knot for the first time last year, marrying financial advisor Bader Shammas on 3 April and confirming their nuptials a few months later.
The former child star's father Michael is thrilled for his daughter and her husband as they prepare to add to their family and says he's known about Lindsay's pregnancy 'for a while'.
Lindsay has experienced a strained relationship with her father over the years but appears to be on good terms with her mum Dina's ex at the moment - with Michael even revealing how his offspring will juggle her career alongside pregnancy and motherhood.
When asked how his daughter - who made her big comeback in Falling for Christmas last year - will move forward with work, the excited dad said: "Who knows, maybe they'll come up with a role as a pregnant woman with a baby. She's doing another movie in April and has Mean Girls and the Freaky Friday sequels."
Michael isn't the only one excited for Lindsay this evening.
A whole hosts of the star's fans and famous friends have rushed to send the mum-to-be love and support on Instagram, following the pregnant star sharing her happy news on the social media platform.
Nancy Myers, who wrote Lindsay's 1998 hit film The Parent Trap, was one of the first celebrities to congratulate Lindsay on Instagram, writing: "Lindsay!!!!!! I’m so excited for you!"
Donatella Versace left a trio of star emojis as a comment, while Paris Hilton wrote: " Congratulations love! So happy for you. Welcome to the Mommy Club!"
Speaking on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in November, Lindsay gushed how married life was "so special" and opened up about her personal life.
"It’s great. I met my person, and you never know if you’re going to find that in life," she said on the American TV show.
"He’s [Bader] an amazing man, I love him and we’re a great team."
