Thursday's headlines

That’s all for today’s live blog, although you can follow coverage of Germany v Australia in the women’s football. Here are the big stories:

Elena Rybakina has pulled out of the Olympic tennis events, hours after the draw was made at Roland Garros. The former Wimbledon champion has withdrawn from the singles and mixed doubles, where she was due to partner Alexander Bublik for Kazakhstan.

France’s Caroline Garcia will now move into Rybakina’s spot in the draw as the 17th seed, facing Romania’s Jaqueline Cristian in the first round, while Australia’s Daria Saville enters the draw as an alternate.
