A couple have told how they went through "every parent's nightmare" as their six-year-old son nearly lost his life choking on his school dinner.
Elis Lloyd, a pupil at Saron Primary School in Carmarthenshire, was eating a sausage when it became lodged in his throat and blocked his airways. He was in and out of consciousness for 20 minutes and about to receive an electric shock from a defibrillator when paramedics managed to dislodge the sausage.
His parents Sarah and Jonathan, from Capel Hendre, have spoken to WalesOnline about the terrifying incident and the "absolute heroes" among the school staff and Welsh Air Ambulance service who saved Elis' life. Their efforts have inspired Jonathan to raise almost £2,000 for the charity and the school.
