The parents of a non-verbal toddler have spoken of their struggle to get their son into childcare after contacting 25 nurseries - and being outright rejected by 10. Lucy and James Ellis have been left "frustrated and angry" by their failing battle to find a nursery for two-year-old Jacob, who has allergies to soya, egg and grass and requires an EpiPen.
The tot has also been placed on a nine-month waiting list to be seen by a speech and language therapist, Manchester Evening news reports. His parents, who started looking for a nursery when Jacob was just six-months-old, are now convinced that nowhere will ever take the youngster.
Primary school teacher Lucy, from Royton, says she has contacted 25 nurseries in their 18-month search, but with no luck. Dad James, who works as a driving instructor, says many places have rejected the youngster due to a of ‘lack of EpiPen training’ – despite James offering to organise the training for free.
