A seven-year-old boy died just five hours after he was discharged from hospital with a prescription for a nasal spray, an inquest has heard.
Adam Soeb Bapu's was taken to A&E at Royal Bolton Hospital by his dad at around 9pm on April 2, as he was "struggling to breathe" and had other cough and cold symptoms. He was then discharged by a doctor just two hours later, police coroner's officer Julieann Hyde told Bolton Coroner's Court.
Master Bapu had a "restless sleep" once he returned to his home in the Halliwell area of Bolton and collapsed in the middle of the night. He died in hospital an hour later.

"He was discharged from the doctor at around 11pm and given a prescription for a nasal spray," Ms Hyde told the hearing. "He had restless sleep during the night and collapsed at around 3am. His dad rushed him into A&E where, despite doctors' best efforts he passed away at 4.03am."
Pathologist Dr Melanie Newbould carried out a post-mortem on Master Bapu's body and recorded 'sudden death in a child' as the cause of death, along with laryngotracheobronchitis - more commonly known as croup.
Area coroner Alan Walsh asked for statements from Royal Bolton Hospital and Master Bapu's GP, ahead of a full inquest. He also asked Greater Manchester Police for an antecedent statement, including any concerns from Master Bapu's parents.
Adjourning the inquest until September 12, Prof Walsh said: "I'm aware that the family have some concerns in regards to the death and the antecedent statement should include those concerns."
