A parent has been slammed online after claiming that she finds the atmosphere in Aldi "off-putting".
The budget supermarket is hugely popular in the UK as it offers lower prices on groceries that are usually much more expensive in other shops.
This, along with the often unmissable offerings on electrics and home interiors in the SpecialBuys section, mean it's a favourite for a lot of people looking to cut costs on their weekly shopping bills.
But not everybody feels this way apparently.
One person posted a rant on the forum Mumsnet, under the "Am I Being Unreasonable? (AIBU) thread.
They said: "Can’t quite put my finger on it but there is something I find a-bit off putting [in Aldi]. I went the other day and I really wanted to like it but there was a chaotic atmosphere and the people were so loud.
"I’m aware I don’t have to shop there but wondering if anyone else has encountered this?"
Many people found this claim to be a strange one, and jumped to Aldi's defence.
One person said: "Nope, I can't say I've ever found the atmosphere chaotic or off putting. I like the prices, and the products are fine."
Another agreed, saying: "It's a supermarket, not a spa hotel. I don't really care what the 'atmosphere' is like.
"Aldi and Lidl are more cluttered than Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda etc because they are saving money on staff, shop fittings etc so they can pass that saving on to the customer with cheaper prices.
"I have never noticed the people in any supermarket being louder than anywhere else."
One person even joked: "I know right? Poor people do so lower the tone."
However, some people agreed with the original post, saying they felt the same and much preferred going elsewhere for their weekly shop.
One said: "Every time I’ve been in an Aldi I’m reminded why I prefer Waitrose."
Another person agreed, saying: "I went in our local Aldi the other week and it was truly gross. I hadn't been in months as I find Asda cheaper. It felt like a jumble sale with too many people in it. Awful."
Some were able to see both sides of the argument, with one saying: "Oh interesting.... I like Aldi, but I think I know what you mean. You feel as if you need to get round the shop, get what you need and get out immediately. I am sure that's deliberate. I don't think I'd find myself browsing in Aldi or lingering there".
