Paramount+: What is it, how to watch and what films & TV shows it has

Paramount+ has made it's big debut in the UK and Sky Cinema customers on Sky platforms can enjoy the new streaming service included within their existing subscription at no extra cost. The new platform, which launched in the United States last year, will house some of the world’s most beloved franchises. Uma Thurman and Jack Whitehall featured in a short film unveiling the new platform, which you can read about here.

Ahead of it's launch, Zai Bennett, Managing Director, Content Sky UK and Ireland, said: “Paramount is synonymous with Hollywood – which is why adding Paramount+ to the Sky Cinema package is not only the perfect pairing, but it will offer great added value for our customers who will be able to access a vast catalogue of premium content at no extra cost.”

But what exactly will the streaming service offer viewers and what will you be able to watch on the platform? Read on to find out everything you need to know about Paramount+.

What is Paramount+?

Paramount+ is the global streaming service from Paramount Global and will cost £6.99 per month for non-Sky Cinema customers. Sky customers without Sky Cinema can access the Paramount+ app on a Sky platform by logging in with an existing Paramount+ subscription that has been obtained direct from www.paramountplus.com.

Through a standalone app on Sky Q and Sky Glass, Sky Cinema customers can stream hits from the Star Trek universe, critically acclaimed series like Yellowstone with Kevin Costner, and family favourites including SpongeBob SquarePants and Rugrats all at no extra cost.

Also included will be some of the most highly anticipated Paramount+ and SHOWTIME® Original series, including the eagerly awaited HALO, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, The First Lady starring Viola Davis, Michelle Pfeiffer and Gillian Anderson alongside premium international scripted Paramount+ Originals like Sexy Beast.

How to watch Paramount+?

Paramount also announced that, starting in 2024, all of its feature films would be moved to the streaming services after their theatrical runs (AP/PA photowire service)

Paramount+ offers a seven-day free trial for new viewers. The perks don't end there as the streaming platform has struck an exclusive deal with Sky, which will see all Paramount Plus TV shows and movies come to Sky Q and Sky Glass viewers with a Sky Cinema subscription at no extra cost. For more on these accounts, click here.

To start watching Paramount+ for free, you'll need to register via the Paramount Plus website. Once you've set up an account, you'll be able to access the streaming service via any Paramount+ app and begin streaming its exclusive TV shows, movies, and more. After the Paramount+ free trial ends, you'll be charged for a one-month subscription unless you decide to cancel your account.

Unlike Disney+, Apple TV+ and Prime Video (also available on Sky Q and Sky Glass) which require viewers to pay their own monthly subscription fee to watch, Paramount+ will be bundled as part of the Sky Cinema subscription. Everything that was previously available with Sky Cinema will continue to be included, like the catalogue of 1,000 on-demand films and exclusive Sky Original movies, like Promising Young Woman. But what else can you watch on Paramount+?

What films and TV shows does Paramount+ have?
