KOLKATA: “His period of ineligibility is now in effect,” ended the Badminton World Federation statement on Tuesday announcing the 18-month suspension of Indian star para shuttler Pramod Bhagat for whereabouts failure.
It was the final nail on Bhagat’s hopes of defending his Paralympics title that he had won in Tokyo three years back and a big setback to India’s aspirations of bettering their 19-medal show at Tokyo Olympics in Paris at the August 28-September 8 extravaganza.
