Paolo Montero has been appointed as the interim manager of Serie A club Juventus for the remainder of the season, following the dismissal of Massimiliano Allegri. Allegri was sacked by Juventus on Friday due to his behavior during and after the Coppa Italia final this week, where he was sent off.
Montero, who currently coaches Juventus' under-19s team, will take charge of the team for their remaining two matches. Juventus will face Bologna on Monday and play against Monza at home on May 26 under Montero's guidance.
The 52-year-old Uruguayan, a former Juventus player who won four Serie A titles with the club as a defender from 1996 to 2005, is considered a Juventus legend both on and off the pitch. The club expressed their confidence in Montero, stating that he embodies the values and spirit of Juventus.
Currently, Juventus occupies the fourth position in Serie A, level on points with third-placed Bologna. Montero's appointment as the interim manager comes at a crucial time for the club as they aim to finish the season on a high note and secure their position in the league standings.
