The Carolina Panthers are about to make one heck of an investment in whomever they take atop the 2023 NFL draft. So, they may be doing their due diligence to protect it.
As reported by Draft Network analyst Ryan Fowler this afternoon, the team has Texas Christian University guard Steve Avila in for a top-30 visit today. Avila is the second known offensive lineman, along with Louisiana State University guard Anthony Bradford, to have a top-30 visit in Charlotte.

The 6-foot-3, 332-pound hog molly is one of the top interior prospects of the class. He started at both guard and center during his four-year career at TCU, and—per Pro Football Focus—allowed just 11 pressures on 540 pass-blocking snaps this past season.
That 2022 campaign, as a result of his impressive work, brought in quite a bit of recognition. He was named a consensus All-American and a First-Team All-Big 12 member.
Avila could be an option with Carolina’s second-round pick, which is the 39th overall selection of the draft.
