Panthers reportedly request interview with Marcus Brady for OC job

Dave Canales’ pal is going to have some competition.

As first reported by NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport on Friday, the Carolina Panthers have requested to interview Philadelphia Eagles senior offensive assistant Marcus Brady for their offensive coordinator position. He is now the second known candidate for the job, joining Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receivers coach Idzik—who, according to JC Allen of BucsGameday, received a request earlier in the day.

Brady, a former quarterback in the Canadian Football League, has six years of NFL coaching experience. That journey started in 2018, under Frank Reich as the assistant quarterbacks coach for the Indianapolis Colts.

The San Diego, Calif. native would move up within the ranks—as he was named the quarterbacks coach in 2019 and then the offensive coordinator in 2021. Brady’s first season in the role saw the Colts 347.1 total yards per game, the 16th-most in the league.

He’d be fired in the middle of the next season, with Indianapolis sitting at 3-4-1 entering Week 9. Philadelphia then hired Brady as an offensive consultant for the remainder of the 2022 campaign.
