This summer’s stay in Spartanburg just ended on a wet note for the Carolina Panthers.
As announced early Thursday morning, today’s practice with the New York Jets has been canceled due to a potential of severe thunderstorms. The session, which was supposed to be the second of two joint outings, was scheduled to take place at 9 a.m. ET.
The practice, per the team’s official statement, will not be rescheduled:
The Panthers final training camp practice with the Jets has been canceled because of inclement weather, and will not be rescheduled.
Storms rolling through the area Thursday morning created safety concerns, so the decision was made to call the second joint practice with the Jets.
The Panthers will return to Charlotte today, and will open the preseason against the Jets Saturday afternoon at Bank of America Stadium.
That preseason opener will kick off at 4 p.m. ET on Saturday, with 2023 No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young expected to play.
