Bryce Young may be No. 9 on your program, but he’s a 10 on the field . . . at least for today.
Carolina Panthers head coach Frank Reich spoke with reporters following this week’s opening installment of organized team activities. He was immediately asked about what went on under center, a spot where all three of his quarterbacks excelled on Monday.
“I thought they were really sharp—all three of ’em,” Reich said of Young, Andy Dalton and Matt Corral. “There shouldn’t be, but there weren’t very many balls on the ground today. So, I thought they were sharp. I thought all three of ’em saw it well, were good on the decisions, where the ball was goin’—I thought the ball location, even on the easier throws, was where it needed to be for all three quarterbacks.”
The conversation would, of course, land on the rookie Young—who got his initial taste of OTAs this morning. Reich continued with some perfect praise.
“I mean, it was 10 out of 10,” he said of the No. 1 overall pick. “And so were the other guys. But just complete command, control, poise. You can tell the way he was seein’ it, the way he was workin’ through progressions. Accuracy in the throw, ball placement in the throw. It was all very good.”
So, not too bad for the first time out, huh?
