Sunday was clearly the final straw for David Tepper.
As first reported by Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the Carolina Panthers have fired head coach Frank Reich after just 11 games. The team currently sits at a league-worst 1-10 record.
The tenth loss came yesterday afternoon, in an underwhelming 17-10 defeat at the hands of the Tennessee Titans. Tepper, per Joe Person of The Athletic, would later be seen leaving the locker room visibly (and audibly) upset after the latest outing.
Reich, who rejoined the organization he once quarterbacked, was the first head coach hired in this year’s cycle. He’d headline the “all-star” coaching staff pieced together by the struggling organization this offseason—a group that also included offensive coordinator Thomas Brown, defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero and senior assistants Jim Caldwell and Dom Capers.
Carolina, who was hoping for an offensive renaissance under Reich, currently ranks 30th in total yards per game (265.9) and 29th in points per game (15.7).
