CHANDIGARH: Students are facing difficulties getting hostel in Panjab University due to lack of coordination among DSWs, departments and hostels. After students complained to their departments, officials wrote a letter to the DSW regarding the hostel. The DSW office also sought information from hostels about vacant rooms and students living in hostels.
The department of botany, biochemistry, Panjab University has issued a notice to students for offline classes. Botany classes will start from February 21. Old students of these departments have started coming to hostels.
At the same time, students of other departments, who were already allotted hostels, have also come to the hostel.
On the other hand, new students are facing problems getting hostel allotment. One reason is that while the university has issued the notice for offline classes, due to examinations, the departments have not yet sent details of the day from which classes will start to students. The DSW has sought a detailed report of rooms to address the problem. Students are facing much anxiety and hassle over hostel allotment in the university.
