A man has been left in stitches after having to ask for help removing the viral Big Red Boot that got stuck on his feet. The $350 (£289) shoes, inspired by cartoon character Astro Boy, have left fashion fans divided, with some dubbing them "iconic" and others believing they're "idiotic".
Designed by MSCHF, the boots have been described as a "cartoon boot for a cool 3D world", and are made from a single rubber shell. But due to their design, it appears they're not all that easy to get off - especially when you're not used to wearing them. TikTok user @lilap3 demonstrated what can happen if you get the boots stuck on your feet when he tried them on at a New York store - and it isn't very dignified.
In a viral video, he is seen laying on the floor with his legs in the air and his friends tugging at the Big Red Boot to try to get them off.
Thankfully, he is seen laughing away while they dragged him across the floor by his ankles.
His caption reads: "Try at your own risk".
Commenting on his video, which has now been viewed more than 3.7 million times, one user said: "Reading the worry on his face when he said 'My foot is swelling' has me weak."
Another user added: "I am weak - the slow motion slide."
A third user said: "I can literally see where the panic starts to set in."
One more user said: "Legend has it he's still wearing the boots."
MSCHF, a Brooklyn-based art collective, officially released the Big Red Boot on February 16 - and within hours they became a hot talking point on social media.
Their advert reads: "If you kick someone in these boots they go BOING!
"You never design shoes to be shaped like feet. Big Red Boots are REALLY not shaped like feet, but they are EXTREMELY shaped like boots."
Commenting on their design, one Twitter user said: "Shout out to Ronald McDonald."
Another user added: "These are probably the best release this year."
A third user said: "When are the black ones dropping?"
One more user added: "Perfect for clowns."
