NEW DELHI: With most of Covid-19 restrictions eased, Delhi Metro’s ridership has been increasing for the last two months and the last two Mondays have seen the mass transit system regain more than 75% of its pre-pandemic footfall.
Delhi Metro usually witnesses the highest footfall of the week on Mondays and the number of ‘passenger trips’ recorded on February 7, 2022, a Monday, was 30.5 lakh. By the first Monday next month, March 7, the number had gone up to 42.9 lakh as almost all restrictions imposed by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) were removed by then.
