Palworld, the popular low-budget, Early Access game, has been gaining a lot of attention lately, with over 2 million concurrent players on Steam. While the game has certainly achieved success, there are a number of areas that still require improvement. In this article, we will discuss some of the game's current issues that need addressing.
1. Pal Base AI: One of the most frustrating aspects of Palworld is the AI behavior of Pals. Players often find their Pals getting stuck on buildings, each other, or even the landscape itself. This problem becomes especially problematic with larger Pals, who are also the most efficient at performing tasks. It's essential to carefully spread out tasks in your base to avoid these issues, but even then, problems persist.
2. Pal Job Assignments: Another area that needs attention is the system for assigning jobs to Pals. Currently, players cannot prioritize certain skills for their Pals, leading to inefficiencies. For example, Pals may focus on grazing at the ranch instead of completing more important tasks. Even when manually assigning them to stations, it only seems to work half the time. Additionally, during base invasions, Pals often fail to logically defend the base by manning crossbows or machine guns, causing frustration among players.
3. Invasion XP: Invasions in Palworld currently lack any meaningful reward for successful defenses. While players can gather a small amount of materials from kills or mitigate damage, there is no experience (XP) gain. This is especially puzzling considering that base invasions can be some of the toughest fights in the game. Implementing XP rewards for both the base squad and active Pal squad, along with the player, would make these encounters more rewarding.
4. Dungeons: Palworld has promised the introduction of raids, but before that, improvements to dungeons are necessary. Currently, there is a lack of diversity in dungeon design, with limited room variations and repetitive hallways. To enhance the overall experience, Palworld should introduce more unique elements into dungeons, such as puzzles or mechanics.
5. Stat Balancing and Late Game Economy: One aspect that requires a comprehensive balance pass is the player's stats and the game's economy. At present, several player stats are largely irrelevant, while others require significant buffs to become meaningful. Additionally, as players progress further into the game, it becomes excessively tedious, with the majority of gameplay revolving around farming materials and crafting. Adjustments to the economy, such as reducing excessive crafting times for essential items, could alleviate this issue and make the late game more enjoyable.
These are just a few of the changes that would greatly enhance the Palworld experience. As the game continues to evolve during Early Access, addressing these issues will undoubtedly lead to improved gameplay and increased player satisfaction. We look forward to seeing these improvements and the future of this promising game.
