Paloma Faith ‘taking it all slow’ after giving birth via painful C-section

Singer Paloma Faith has announced the birth of her "perfect and wonderful" baby boy, revealing she underwent a "painful" C-section.

The acclaimed artist, known for hits such as “Only Love Can Hurt Like This”, shared the news with her 1.1 million Instagram followers on Tuesday, marking the arrival of her third child. Faith, 44, posted an intimate black-and-white photograph showing her thumb and finger gently holding her newborn son's hand.

In the accompanying caption, she wrote: "On Friday, March 6th, I had my third baby, a little boy. He was a bit early and ended up in NICU (neo-natal intensive care unit) for three days." The singer extended her gratitude to the "incredible" midwives and medical team who assisted with the delivery.

Reflecting on her experience, Faith added: "Today we go home. As usual its not easy, I’m engorged already, day three intrusive thoughts, in love with my partner and my kids more than ever. Just taking it all slow. C sections ARE PAINFUL. He’s perfect and wonderful. Breastfeeding is hard."

Faith has not yet disclosed the name of her baby boy, nor has she publicly named the child's father. She is already a mother to two daughters, born in 2016 and 2021, with her ex-partner, French artist Leyman Lahcine.

The 'Upside Down' singer has previously spoken candidly about the challenges of childbirth, including complications during her last two pregnancies. She revealed losing a litre of blood after her second birth and experiencing "so much pain despite the pain killers."

Following her first child's arrival, she endured "an emergency C-section that resulted in me not being able to walk properly for three months." Faith also shared her struggles with IVF, undergoing six rounds of treatment before her second daughter was conceived.

Her pregnancy was announced in October last year, shortly after her appearance on 'The Celebrity Traitors', where she was "killed" off by comedian Alan Carr, who went on to win the competition.

The news prompted a wave of congratulations from fellow celebrities. Claudia Winkleman, host of the BBC reality show, commented: "Massive congratulations, brilliant news. All love." Carr also shared his delight, writing: "Oh how wonderful. Congratulations darling." Broadcaster Kate Garraway, another 'Celebrity Traitors' contestant, added: "Oh this is so so wonderful. Congratulations you fabulous mama and utterly gorgeous brilliant woman." Little Mix singer Jesy Nelson, TV personality Fearne Cotton, and musician Jools Holland were also among those sending their best wishes.
