Palnackie woman recognised with Standing Joint Commander's Commendation

A Palnackie woman has received a military honour.

Jennifer Lawrence was recently presented with a Standing Joint Commander’s Commendation – having learned she would be receiving the accolade in the Queen’s Military Birthday Honours list last summer.

The 54-year-old has been a Warrant Officer Class Two with the Royal Logistics Corp, which is attached to the 6th Battalion Royal Regiment of Scotland, since 2014, after completing nearly 25 years with the regular Army.

Last February, she was mobilised back into regular service to assist initially with Operation Rescript, providing military aid to the civil authority based in Edinburgh.

She covered a variety of logistical and supportive tasks involving vehicles, fuel, food and accommodation.

It was an area she wasn’t experienced in and needed to learn quickly to adapt and adjust accordingly.

As the tempo increased and further operations needed support, WO2 Lawrence was tested further when trying to find accommodation for the hundreds of soldiers on various operations over a time when choices were extremely limited and out of budget.

WO2 Lawrence built a strong rapport and negotiated costs with small and major hotels across Scotland. Towards the end of the operation in June, she was informed she had been named on the honours list.
