A Palestinian stabbed two Israeli policemen at a gate to Jerusalem's walled Old City on Monday and was then shot by the officers, a police statement said, in the second such incident in two days.
The statement said the assailant was "neutralised", and several Israeli media outlets reported he was killed. A video on social media showed several police officers pointing their guns and yelling at the man as he lay on the ground at the Cotton Merchants' Gate.
Photos distributed by police showed a bloodied knife on the ground.
