Pakistan recently test-fired an extended-range version of the Fatah-4 ground-launched cruise missile, bringing renewed attention to Islamabad’s long-range conventional strike capability. India’s Nirbhay belongs to the same broad class of long-range subsonic cruise missiles, while BrahMos represents a different segment, built around high speed and shorter publicly stated range.
India’s Nirbhay is a long-range, subsonic cruise missile developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation. DRDO describes it as a deep-penetration weapon intended to strike high-value targets with precision. Public DRDO material has placed its range at around 800-1,000 km, while other DRDO-published material has cited figures extending to 1,500 km.
