NEW DELHI: Gull Feroza and Muneeba Ali's exceptional performances led Pakistan to a resounding 10-wicket victory against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the Women's Asia Cup 2024 at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla on Tuesday.
Pakistan won the toss and opted to field first, a decision that proved beneficial for Nida Dar's team.
The UAE's batting performance was lackluster, with only Theertha Satish (40 runs from 36 balls, 5 fours) and captain Esha Rohit Oza (16 runs from 26 balls, 2 fours) making notable contributions, reported ANI. Their efforts helped the UAE reach a modest total of 103/8.
Pakistan's bowling attack was spearheaded by Sadia Iqbal, who claimed two wickets while conceding only 11 runs in her four-over spell.
Nashra Sandhu and Tuba Hassan also picked up two wickets each, while skipper Nida Dar chipped in with one wicket.
In response, Pakistan's openers Gull Feroza (62 runs from 5 balls, 8 fours) and Muneeba Ali (37 runs from 30 balls, 4 fours) comfortably chased down the target in just 14.1 overs, facing little resistance from the UAE bowling attack.
The UAE bowlers struggled to make an impact, with Suraksha Kotte being the most economical, giving away 17 runs in her three-over spell.
