Pakistan may be at risk of being suspended by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) following a dispute over the appointment of a new president for the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF). The caretaker Prime Minister, Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar, appointed Mir Tariq Hussain Bugti as the new president, a move that was contested by the previous president, Brig (retd) Khalid Sajjad Khokar.
In a scene reminiscent of a movie script, Bugti assumed control of the federation headquarters in Lahore on Saturday, surrounded by both police and his own security personnel.
